The historic landmark Church of St. Sacrement was established more than 150 years ago on a rocky ledge overlooking the waters of Lake George from which she derived her name. Inspired by the beauty of the lake, French settlers originally called it Lac du Sacrement or Lake of the Holy Sacrement. Just as we stand as a beacon of welcome at the southern most edge of the village of Bolton Landing, we invite you to become part of our history.
On Sunday November 22, we will have an “Instructed Eucharist” at our 10 o’clock service. Instead of a sermon, there will be a running commentary throughout the service providing historical and theological perspectives on what led us to be doing the things we do. Also, beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, November 29 and throughout the four Sundays of Advent, our post-service Coffee Hour will have a Conversational Forum wrestling with both the development and evolution of the biblical concept of Sin and the historic ways in which both popular and official religion have dealt with this concept.
We are delighted to announce the hiring of Tami Pratt Malone as our Minister of Music. Tami, who brings extensive musical gifts and experience - including within churches and leading choirs, will provide musical accompaniment on Sunday mornings and coordinate the continuation of a choral community among us. While our Thrift Shop will remain open for business on Fridays and Saturdays through October 9 & 10, we have put a pause on welcoming donations until April. Thank you!
The Samaritan’s Christmas Purse Drive is once again underway seeking to bring holiday cheer to needy children. Boxes are now available for pickup. Each box contains a shoebox label and a card with instructions on how to pack it. Shipping costs for each box is $10 and payment can be made in cash or with a check made out to St. Sacrement. Boxes should be returned and placed at the foot of the altar by November 15th. Thank you to Vicky O’Donnell for heading up this endeavor
Another Successful Year for our Annual 50/50 Raffle
Thank you to everyone for contributing to assuring that for the 24th year in a row since its inception in 2003, every available ticket for our Annual 50/50 was sold! Congratulations to Heather and Dale Larrow of Bluffton, South Carolina who were our Grand Prize winners this year! In addition to being frequent summer visitors to Bolton Landing, Heather and Dale are personal friends of our very own Jennifer and Ed Scheiber. The additional monies raised by the Raffle will be used to replace the doors in our Parish House to bring them up to code to assure the safety of those who regularly use our facility including the Bolton After School Program, the County Meal Site, the Girl Scouts, all who come and go through our doors for the Thrift Shop, and anyone who uses our facility.
Our Annual Parish Meeting will convene at Coffee Hour following our Sunday morning Worship on October 18.
